To keep a track on its files/records the Margao Municipal Council will be introducing Radio Frequency Identity (RFID) technology. The MMC would be first civic body in Goa to do so.

MMC has decided to introduce this programme in which movement of files would be easily tracked electronically at a click of a button. Newly appointed MMC Chief Officer Siddhivinayak Naik said that the RFID technology is being introduced to make sure that important files/records can be easily tracked down and also they don’t go missing.

Chief Officer Naik further informed that this concept would be first introduced in the technical section of the municipality and later it would be introduced to other departments.

Under this concept, every file will have an RFID tag, while the entrance of every section including the chambers of Chairperson and Chief Officer will have metal detector frames which will read the tags.

Naik said that the officers will also be given hand-held detector so that the files which are piled up in the cupboard can be tracked without any efforts.
