PUNE: The khaki-clad man has struck again at the Swargate Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation(MSRTC) bus depot for the second time in this month, selling bus tickets worth Rs 1067 to passengers waiting near the ‘Solapur bus point’ on Monday. A case of cheating and impersonation is lodged at Swargate police station in this regard.
In the previous incident, a masked khaki-clad man had cheated ten passengers to the tune of Rs 930 on June 4.
According to the information given by Swargate police, the con man wears a handkerchief to cover his face and so it becomes difficult to identify the person. Police sub-inspector SW Waghmare who is investigating the case said that the man sold tickets to 32 passengers and left from the depot.
“We are collecting more information about the tickets from MSRTC.” added Waghmare.
Based on the modus operandi of the crime, police suspect the same person has struck for the second time.
Pune divisional controller of MSRTC, Nitin Maind said that the tickets given by con man to the passengers are real tickets.”The con man must have stolen the tickets from some MSRTC depot,” added Maind.
Speaking about the steps taken to avert such incident, Maind said that there is a need for the people to be alert.”We will stop that process of conductors giving tickets to passengers near the bus point.” added Maind.
