Panaji (Goa): Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today called for a detailed report on the historysheeters across the state after clash between locals and tourists left fourteen people injured on Wednesday.
The Chief minister’s office has released a media statement this afternoon stating that CM has “called for a report from Goa Police seeking extensive information and statistics on individuals and group of individuals with a history of creating disturbances and indulging in acts of violence in the state.”
“CM has directed Police to take strict action against all history-sheeters on priority,” the CMO has said in the two paragraph statement.
Total 11 tourists and three locals were injured when they clashed with each other in Merces village, near here. Three locals were arrested by Old Goa police who are booked for attempt to murder, rioting and other sections of Indian Penal Code.
The Chief Minister who addressed a gathering during a function organized by state run Economic Development Corporation (EDC) condemned the incident stating that “such acts don’t augur well for the image of tourist state like Goa.”
“We have to be very sensitive when it comes to law and order in the State. I have asked police to crack down on the historysheeters and goonda elements. Their place would be in jail,” Parrikar said.
He said that the respective police inspectors would be held responsible, if they allow such activities in their jurisdiction.
