TNV: When and how did you begin modelling? Were you studying or working before then?
IR: I began modelling during my Engineering course in year 2008. I was studying to be an engineer while pursuing Body building as a Hobby.
TNV: Why modelling when you could have settled in for a more stable permanent career?
IR: My dad has been a government servant and I know the perks and benefits of a permanent stable career but I was always interested in physical fitness. I being polio affected wanted to challenge myself and have the best physique possible and I think I have achieved that.
TNV: Tell me about your first assignment. How did it happen? What was the experience?
IR: I never did any modelling assignment but my first breakthrough was winning the Mumbai Shri. That moment made me realise that I want to concentrate on body building and modelling as my career.
TNV: What do you feel makes you a good model? Your face? Your body? Your attitude? As opposed to others?
IR: I think my attitude and my intention makes me a good model. The attitude that I have must reflect the positive intention I have which is to make people aware of the benefits of physical fitness and it’s importance in daily life.
TNV: Why Rubaru Mr india when there is so many local pageants happen?
IR: I have been a part of many local completion for the past many years but I believe that Rubaru has a reach to the audience that no other pageant has. I am very happy to be a part of Rubaru and connect with people on wider scale.
TNV: Did Mr. India just happen to you along the way – or were you preparing to take part in the pageant?
IR: Mr. India did happen to me but I was always more than prepared for it.
TNV: Tell us about how you train for it? What is the regimen like? What are the challenges involved?
IR: As everyone knows diet and exercise are two main elements of any physical fitness regime. I do heavy weight training and follow a strict diet also what most people don’t know about a strict regime is dedication and discipline. I have not missed a single day of a gym even though I had a bad day at home or work.
TNV: What makes you feel you should be the chosen one? What’s different about you as a contestant?
IR: My motto is not to be a pretty face in the crowd with six pack and My motto is to lead through example. My body and my attitude should let the youth of country know that anything is possible if you set your mind. I want to be the face of fitness for India.
TNV: How will winning the Mr. India pageant going to affect your life?
IR: Winning Mr. India is very important for me. It will have the same effect as a degree of any stream has on a student. Mr. India I believe would increase my credibility in the world of fashion and modelling by many folds.
TNV: What are your view and thought for cause camping of Save Girl Child? How will you educate to stop this in our country ?
IR: I have 4 sisters and one of them is a doctor, one is a home maker. 3rd is an MBA and 4th is top class student in commerce. And I am but a diploma holder. I think they have influenced more lives through their education than I have and it only speaks how much I believe in saving a girl child. What I would do to save a girls is to ensure that I encourage women around me and in my life to pursue their career or personal choices without having any bias about their gender. So that they would feel safe to create more Lakshmis and Saraswatis in this world.
