NIRAJ SARIPALLI WINS LATE SMT. PREMLATA OMPRAKASH AGARWAL ALL GOA OPEN RAPID FIDE RATING CHESS TOURNAMENT

Niraj Saripalli of Salcete Taluka Chess Association won the prestigious Late Smt. Premlata Omprakash Agarwal All Goa Open Rapid FIDE Rating Chess Tournament held at BPS Sports Club premises and organised by BPS Sports Club and Salcete Taluka Chess Assoociation by beating Tanvi Vassudev Hadkonkar to win the 1st prize of Rs. 10,000/- and trophy.

Gunjal Chopdekar beat Sairaj Vernekar to bag the 2nd prize of Rs. 7000/- and Trophy.

Reuben Colaco beat Suhas Asnodkar to bag the 3rd prize.

Tanvi Hadkonkar stood fourth while Wilson Cruz had to be content with 5th prize after drawing his last round.

The total prize fund was Rs.50000/- and trophies were awarded to all winners.

Other prize winners are:

Sairaj Vernekar (6th prize), Sachin Gaude (7th prize), Devesh Anand Naik (8th prize), Mandar Pradip Lad (9th prize) and Ethen Vaz (10th prize).

In the age group category, Erwin Albuquerque won the U7 boys while Poorvi Naik won the U7 girls.

Hawal Shreyas won U9 boys while Jennica Sequeira won U9 girls.

Ali Amanat won U11 boys while Asmita Ray won the U11 girls.

Yash Manoj Upadhye won U13 boys while Sanvi Naik Gaonkar won the U13 girls.

Ishan Pagi won U15 boys while Sarah Gayle Fernandes won the U15 girls.

 Salcete Taluka prizes

Sairaj Narvenkar won U7 boys title while Diya Digamber Sawal won the U7 girls.

Atharva Sawal won the U9 boys title while Saeeja Gunesh Desai won the U9 girls.

Edrick Vaz won U11 boys title while Vardha Desai won the U11 girls.

Jugan Sales Rodrigues won U13 boys title while Alaya D’Cruz won the U13 girls.

Desai Purush Rajkaran won U15 boys title while Swetha Sahakari won the U15 girls.

 

Veteran (above 50) – Suhas Asnodkar

Unrated player – Malviya Mukesh Kumar

Best Women player (above 15 years) – Pradyna Kakodkar.

Total 233 players from all over Goa participated in the premier tournament out of which 91 were rated players on23rd and 24th February 2019 at BPS Club premises A.C. Hall.

The inaugural function was held on 23rd February 2019 at 5.00 p.m. at the hands of Smt. Amrita Agarwal, Director, Prakash Packaging Ltd.

Mr. Ashesh Keni was the Chief Arbiter of the tournament.

The prize distribution function was held on 24th February 2019 at 6.30 p.m. at BPS Sports Club grounds at the hands of Engr. Ernesto Moniz, Chairman of the General Body of BPS Sports Club in the presence of Smt. Amrita Agarwal, Director, Prakash Packaging Ltd.,guest of honour, Mr. Santosh George, President BPS Sports Club, Mr. Ashesh Keni, President, Salcete Taluka Chess Association and Vice-President, Goa Chess Association, Mr. Damodar Zambaulikar, Secretary, STCA, Mr. Avdhut Kare, Mr. Justo D’Costa, Mr. Ian Carl Alvares, Mr. Manguirish Kunde and Mr. Siddharth Carvalho,all members of BPS Club and others.

 

The following players were felicitated by Salcete Taluka Chess Association at the hands of the Chief Guest for their excellent performance during the last 2 years on the occasion.
