Panaji (Goa): Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Goa Police today detained North Goa Additional Collector Sabaji Shetye when he was trapped accepting a bribe.
“Shetye was trapped while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 which was part of his demand of Rs 1.5 lakh to issue no objection certificate for shortage of explosives licence,” Superintendent of Police (ACB) Bosco George said.
The trap was laid by ACB this afternoon during which Shetye, who is holding charge as Additional Collector of North Goa, was found accepting bribe.
George said that Shetye was only detained while decision on his arrest was yet to be taken.
After detention, the officer was taken to ACB headquarters at Altinho where he was being questioned by the sleuths.
