Panaji (Goa): The patients will now don’t have to pinch their pockets to purchase the essential drugs. Narendra Modi-led government’s ambitious scheme is going to help Goa.
The Goa government has decided to sign memorandum of understanding with the centre under Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) to provide subsidized medicines.
Union Minister of State for Chemical and Fertilizers Mansukh L Mandaviya who was down in Goa today met State health minister Vishwajit Rane to discuss the implementation of PMBJP.
Rane had meeting with Mandaviya this morning at state secretariat. “In principle, we have agreed to sign an MoU on lines with other states where government of Goa will implement Prime Minister’s pet project PMBJP,” Rane said.
Goa will sign MoU with the centre in the first week of June in presence of state chief minister Manohar Parrikar. The minister said all the state government run pharmacies would be converted into ‘Jan Aushadi Kendra’ in phased manner.
“We will have flagship store at Goa medical college and hospital. This will help the patients by reducing the cost of drugs,” Rane said.
