The opposition Congress today boycotted Governor Mridula Sinha’s address on day one of the state Assembly budget session.

The opposition members wore black arm bands as a mark of protest.

As Governor Sinha got up to address the members, Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar stood up and said the governor should not address the House as the “opposition voices were not being heard by the government”.

Kavlekar was referring to the demand made by Congress last week to extend the current session from the scheduled three days to 10 days, which was not approved by the BJP government.
