Panaji (Goa): The model code of conduct for the panchayat elections is likely to come into force from May 15.
The elections for 186 panchayats is scheduled to take place on June 11. Total 1522 wards will be going for polls.
The state government is expected to issue notification announcing the election date, delimitation and reservation of wards this week.
As per the delimitation, additional 32 wards are included with seven in newly formed Cavelossim panchayat.
Meanwhile, govt has decided to increase reservation for schedule caste from 9 wards to 15 wards in panchayat polls.
” the entire process is complete. Notification will come this week,” panchayat minister mauvin godinho said.
Also government has reserved 12 percent to schedule tribe and 27 percent to OBC. Also 33 percent wards are reserved for women.
