Panaji (Goa): After holding a high level meeting over the desecration of Holy Crosses and Hindu religious symbols, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today said they were attempts to try to create some sort of tension in the State.

“This appears to be specific attempt to try and create some sort of a tension in the State,” Parrikar told reporters. He said “the reasons  are unknown.”

Parrikar said that the police department has been patrolling the religious places round the clock, but the incidents have happened after 6 a.m. “At one place where Holy Cross was desecrated, the police patrolling was there till 5.30 a.m. but incident happened after 6 a.m,” he commented.

The Chief Minister said “someone must have been keeping a watch on movement of the police and only when they move away from the place, he is attacking the structures.”

Parrikar has asked police department to engage all the possible technologies including google mapping to track down the culprits. “This is kind of thing will not be tolerated. The culprit will face the music once he is arrested,” he said.

He also did not rule out booking the culprit under stringent National Security Act when he is arrested, depending on the nature of the person doing it.
