How do you rate the performance of Parrikar-led government during last 100 days?

Generally for any government 100 days is too less a time to judge its performance, especially for the government like that of led by Parrikar which is symbolic to compromise for the greed of power, 100 days is just a beginning. They are still adjusting with each other at the cost of state’s governance. Nothing is happening except for the speeches and announcements. People have not seen a single good thing. This will continue forever as too many greedy people are sharing the power at one time. Administration has collapsed, law and order has deteriorated, transparency of government is compromised.

You mean to say Parrikar government did not perform at all?

That is the impression amongst the people. Basically, you need to understand that Parrikar government is an unholy alliance. They are not there to perform but for the sake of power. I would rather say it is Parrikar-Sardesai government as Dhavalikar brothers are completely out of focus. These two people who have been accusing each other of being ‘dalal’, do you think they will be comfortable with each other and will they work for the welfare of the state?

On a scale of 0-10 how would you rate performance of this government?

I would rate it 3. That too, not because of the Ministers, but due to some good government officials who have been working sincerely. Otherwise we have most inefficient Ministers in the government, but they are yet to win people’s trust.

What is your reaction to Goa Forward Party Ministers? How is their performance?

Goa Forward Ministers are working under the shadow of Vijai Sardesai. They are totally remote controlled. Actually it’s just one Minister, Vijai Sardesai, while Vinod Palyekar and Jayesh Salgaoncars are like OSDs of those departments.

One good thing that you appreciate about Parrikar government?
I really appreciate the silence maintained by Manohar Parrikar when Sadhvi Saraswati who is sharing the ideologies of his own party threatened to hang people who eat beef. I am thankful to Parrikar that he silently endorsed her views. That is how he showed his real colours. Parrikar who is known for filing FIRs against his political opponents maintained silence over Sadhvi, allowing her to go. Vijai Sardesai was also exposed for trying to act as a smoke screen for Parrikar allowing Sadhvi leave the state without any action on her.

Congress too did not do anything against Sadhvi.

Are we in power to take any action? We have played a role of an active opposition by speaking out openly against her. I was the first person to make statement against her. Our senior leader Shantaram Naik took up the issue in Delhi. Our leaders like Chandrakant Kavlekar, Pratima Coutinho and Savitri Kavlekar spoke against her. But finally it is for the government to prove its secular credential and book her. That did not happen.

Do you think this government is stable?

As far as congress is concerned we are not interested in destabilising this government. If they fall, it would be due to their own weight. If they continue, they will keep on ruining Goa further. The wishes and prayers of people are not with this government. This government is formed by defeating people.

Is Congress flock together after exit of Vishwajit Rane?

We are very much together. You will witness united opposition strength during the upcoming monsoon session of the House. Proper strategy has been worked out to put government on the mat.

What about by-elections in Valpoi and Panaji?

There also you will see Congress candidates winning the elections. You have to understand that people have thrown out BJP. The BJP is right now hanging onto power due to Goa Forward, MGP and Independents. The voters who have rallied behind the Congress will once again show their power. Moreover, Vishwajit Rane ditching the trust of people is another factor. He will have to face the wrath of the people during by election. Parrikar himself is not sure of winning in Panaji that is why he is busy in some political engineering. But all these things don’t work. Power of people is ultimate.
