The Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will be on Tuesday allocating the portfolios to the newly inducted Cabinet Ministers- Vishwajit Rane and Mauvin Godinho- along with distribution of additional portfolios to other Ministers.
With swearing in of Rane and Godinho, last week- Parrikar expanded his Cabinet, increasing the strength to 12. On March 14, along with Parrikar, nine other MLAs were sworn in as Ministers that include two from BJP, three Goa Forward, two MGP and two independents. The CM has already allocated one portfolio to each of the nine Ministers while retaining the rest.
Parrikar is on record to state that the portfolio allocation to the new Ministers Rane and Godinho and additional portfolio to other Ministers would be done by Tuesday. Sources said that on Tuesday, Parrikar may allocate only one or two more portfolios to all 11 Ministers and by end of the month, may give more charges.
It is been learnt that, Rane would be allocated the Health as well as Information & Technology portfolio, while Godinho may get Panchayat and Industries.
The other Cabinet ministers are Francis D’Souza (Urban Development), Pandurang Madkaikar (Power), Ramakrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar (PWD), Manohar ‘Babu’ Azgaonkar (Tourism), Vijay Sardesai (Town and Country Planning), Vinod Palyekar (Water Resources), Jayesh Salgaocar (Housing), Rohan Khaunte (Revenue) and Govind Gaude (Art and Culture).
Reliable sources confirm that Francis may get hold of Law Department, while Sudin will retain Transport and River Navigation. Vijay is likely to be awarded with Agriculture portfolio, while Rohan and Babu are contending hard for Sports. The first time MLA and ministers Palyekar, Salgaocar and Gaude may be given some minor portfolios.
Last week, the CM had allotted corporations, where suprisingly, the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) was handed over to first time MLA Deepak Pawaskar of the MGP. Meanwhile, former Minister Alina Saldanha was demoted as chairman ofRehabilitation Board.
