Chief minister Manohar Parrikar has called a meeting of MLAs from the mining belt, the two MPs, the advocate general of Goa and director of mines and geology on Thursday, June 21, to discuss and work out solutions to restart mining operations in the state, MGP MLA from Sanvordem Dipak Pauskar said.
The meeting will be held at 12 pm at the CM’s office at the secretariat complex in Porvorim, Pauskar said.
“We will look at possibilities and discuss ways on how mining operations can be resumed in Goa, and we will also seek legal advice from the advocate general of Goa. Allotting leases by auction is one option. But, till the auctioning is completed, mining resumption should be allowed. It has to be seen how this can be attained by approaching the Supreme Court,” said Pauskar.
