Panaji (Goa) The newly elected Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) today unanimously resolved to authorize National President Sonia Gandhi to nominate the next State Congress chief.
The GPCC also resolved to request party vice president Rahul Gandhi to accept the All India Congress Committee (AICC) president ship.
Speaking to reporters post meeting, Pradesh Returning Officer (PRO) MP Dhrunarayan said that PCC has unanimously resolved to authorize Sonia Gandhi to nominate the PCC State president and AICC members.
The resolution was moved by Assistant PRO Pankaj Punia and seconded by Ravi Naik.
“The decision is expected to come in next 15 days,” he said refusing to state whether any names are in fray for the post of President.
Sitting President Shantaram Naik is lobbying to retain the position. Former MP Franciso Sardinha, former chief minister Ravi Naik, PCC vice president M K Shaikh and AICC secretary Girish Chodankar are also in fray.
