The petrol pumps will remain closed on Sunday and will be operational from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm during the other week days. The step is being taken to cut short the cost incurred in running the petrol pumps, as the oil company who supplies them had not considered their demands on the hike in commission rates.
“We had brought to the notice of all India federation that the commission allotted to us is sufficient only for the work carried out in two shifts but the third shift is not included in that provision, but the federation has not shown any signs to address our problems so we have decided to reduce the cost of running the pump by not working the third shift and keeping the pumps closed on Sundays. The people will face hardships due to this, but we will try to find a solution to this issue so that the people do not face problems and our demands will be met,” said a petrol pump owner.
