Miramar (Goa): Today probably could be the last day of the off shore casino ship M V Lucky 7 at Miramar beach where it is grounded for over 20 days. The Golden Globe Hotels Pvt Ltd owned vessel is likely to towed away in the next few hours subject to water tide. According to the Ports Administration, the vessel ~ that underwent minor repairs and welding till yesterday ~ will be towed to Mormugao Port Trust (MPT).
“The repairs works are nearly complete. It should be towed today during the high water tide, to MPT for underwater survey. If necessary, the remaining repairs will be carried out at MPT and layer towed to Jaigad dry dock yard,” a ports official told this reporter.
The vessel had run aground at Miramar beach on July 16, three days after it left the MPT for its designated site at Off Campal. It was stuck at Aguada sand bar for three days before drifting to the beach. It’s tug lines and anchor chain had parted resulting into the halting of the towing exercise.
The company then entered into an agreement with Arihant Ship Breakers to carry out the salvage operation. It’s experts have been involved in dredging and repairing the ship to later tow it away. A crane barge is already position in the river to pull the vessel in deep waters.
