A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable was arrested on Tuesday for alleged sexual harassment of a woman on Calangute beach.
Speaking to reporters Calangute police station in-charge Jivba Dalvi said that accused constable Rajvir Prabhudayal Singh (43) is a native of Rajasthan and was held after a woman, who was bathing at the beach, accused him of using vulgar and abusive language and inappropriately touching her.
The complainant also stated that apart from behaving inappropriately with her, the accused also assaulted her husband.
Inspector Dalvi said the incident happened at around 4 pm Tuesday when the complainant, her husband and their children were at Calangute beach.
A case under section 354(a) (sexual harassment) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered, he said.
