PROVIDING QUALITY EDUCATION & CREATING EMPLOYMENT IS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE, SAYS PARRIKAR

Panaji (Goa) Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in his Independence Day address to the State on Tuesday said that the improvement in the quality of primary education and employment generation are the two biggest challenges Goa is facing today.
Parrikar was addressing after unfurling the national tri- color and inspecting the guard of honour at the state level celebrations at Old Secretariat.
Parrikar said that the biggest worry concern the Country as well Goa, which remained unsolved even after 70 years of Independence, is the quality of primary education.
“Under such situation, if we want the country to progress then improvement in the quality of primary education is something we need to focus upon. Goa government, hence, has decided to lay emphasis to improve the quality of education in coming years,” he said.
Stating that government alone cannot bring the change, Chief Minister has called upon the people of the State to be part and support government in providing the quality education to our students.
Another issue Goa is facing and also the entire country is of employment, Chief Minister stated.
Chief Minister raised serious concern about the fact that with world turning into techno friendly, generation of employment is becoming a major problem.
“State like Goa employment will always be an issue,” he admitted adding that all Goans want white coloured job and that people have slowly forgotten the concept of ‘dignity of labour’.
“In the coming year, if we want to bring the unemployment under control then the concept of dignity of labour will have to be introduced and promoted,” he said.
Earlier, Chief Minister appealed people of Goa to join hands with the government to make the State plastic free place by the year 2020. He asserted that the collective approach to support the government’s initiatives is required to make the coastal state completely free of plastic.
On the occasion, Chief Minister presented Presidents Police Medal for distinguished services to SP Umesh Gaonkar, Presidents Police medal for meritorious services to SP Bosco George, SP Vishram U Borkar, DySP Mahesh Gaonkar, DySP Sunita Sawant, and retired DySP Terezinha T. D’Souza.
The function was attended by Speaker of State Legislative Assembly Dr Pramod Sawant, cabinet minister Rohan Khaunte, Pandurang Madkaikar, Jayesh Salgaoncar, Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar, MLA Alina Saldanha and others.
