PUNE RURAL POLICE ARRESTED TWO FOR CARRYING EXPLOSIVE MATERIAL ILLEGALLY

Gunwanti Paraste (Pune): Pune rural police have arrested two persons on Tuesday for illegal possession and transportation of detonators and gelatine sticks in Sablewadi village limit of Pune district.

As per offence registered at Chakan police station both the accused – Mahadev Chowdhary and Rameshwaram Kaleshwar were booked under various sections including  Section 286 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections of the Explosives Act.

A team of Chakan police station nabbed the duo around 8 am near Sablewadi village, while they were carrying the explosive material in a tempo. Mahadev Chowdhary was driving the tempo while Rameshwaram accompanying him.

During searches, police seized total worth Rs. 1,04,650 detonators and gelatine sticks from them.

Police sub-inspector Shridhar Jagtap said that police get a tip-off that tempo number MH.16.B.4610 carrying illegal gelatine sticks and detonators. Police said they have a licence for possessing and transporting gelatine sticks and detonators for digging well by blasting purpose.

But the duo had not followed the conditions laid down as per the law. They were carrying the explosive material illegally and had taken no security measures to prevent an explosion. It is dangerous to carry gelatin sticks and detonators together.
