RIBANDAR
Activist Aires Rodrigues today warned of holding a ‘rasta roko’ along with people of Ribandar on June 18 if their demands are not met . Rodrigues has demanded to waive off electricity bill of one month to the people of Ribandar due to poor power supply, and have also demanded to deploy a 24×7 mobile van accompanied by a junior engineer, stationed at Ribandar. He said people are upset with regular power failures.
“If some drastic steps are not taken to rectify the situation, the people of Ribandar will be compelled to have a ‘rasta roko’ on June 18, which is Goa Revolution Day. We have demanded that the people of Ribandar should not be billed for this month because of the poor quality of power supply that we have suffered over the months. Our second demand is that a mobile van of the electricity department is to be stationed 24 hours at Ribandar accompanied by a Junior Engineer,” Adv Rodrigues said.
“We have also requested the chief engineer that a immediate audit and assessment be done of all the electric poles in Ribandar,” Adv Rodrigues added.
However, CEE N. Neelakanta Reddy said that he is facing few difficulties to put things in place at present
“We are having a shortage of staff and we are also falling short of 64 junior electrical engineers,” Reddy said.
