NETRAVALI (GOA): “People of Netravali have given me a big responsibility with high expectations,” said Abhijeet Dessai, Dy. Sarpanch, Netravali.
Speaking to team TNV, Dessai disclosed various problems faced by Netravali panchayat. “Power cuts in monsoon and water supply in summer are issues that we need to resolve with the help of state government. We also have to create awareness among the villagers about various schemes introduced by the government,” said Dessai.
Dy. Sarpanch Dessai further said that the Netravali panchayat has financial insufficiency and there is no source of revenue generation due to which the panchayat has to depend on state government and zilla panchayat funds. Dessai stressed on the importance to generate funds, so that the small but important works can be carried out in the panchayat area on their own.
“Our main objective is to develop all the tourist locations which are under Netravali panchayat jurisdiction. This will help us to generate job opportunities for the locals and will also generate some revenue for the panchayat,” said Dessai.
“Garbage issue, house tax assessment, and other development projects like bus stand, market complex, sports complex, play grounds, roads etc. are some of the works that need to be taken up on priority basis. Many new challenges will come as we move forward, and I am sure that with the support of our Sarpanch and panch members we will be ready to face any challenge,” added Dessai.
