The staff of Margao Muinicipal Council was caught by surprise when, as a part of the ‘Sagar Kavach’ mock drill a fax claiming there was bomb in the building was received.

The fax was received by a female employee of the MMC. “I received a fax, after which we asked the people to vacate the premises,” said the female employee.

Speaking to the media persons the Chief Officer of MMC said that, “we have taken precautionary measures and asked the people to leave the building as soon as we received the fax, we have already called the concerned state agencies who co-ordinates all these operations, we have informed the District Magistrate control room and we have informed the police control room and also instructed our staff to be alert.”

The ‘Sagar Kavach’ drill is a three-day exercise undertaken by the authorities in order to be prepared to face any real time terrorist threat.
