Panaji (Goa): The Union Ministry for Environment and Forest and Climate Change (MoEF) has reconstituted the Goa Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) and the State Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC) for a period of three years.
The term of SEIAA and SEAC had expired in December 2016 and since then the Environment department was waiting reconstitution of these two crucial bodies. The last meeting of SEIAA was held in December.
In a notification issued by the Union Ministry on June 28, Vivekanad Sawkar is appointed as the chairman of SEIAA while the other Adv Joseph Vaz is appointed as member and director of Environment will be the member secretary.
To assist the SEIAA, the central government has constituted seven members SEAC under the chairmanship of Dr Suhas Godse.
The other six members include Dominic Fernandes, Dr Nitin Sawant, Dr Purshotam Pendnekar, Dr CU Rivonkar, Prof MK Janarthanam and Environment Engineer from the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) as its secretary.
