Codli, Sanvordem (Goa) The body of worker who had caved in an iron ore dump at Sesa Iron Ore’s Codli mine in South Goa was traced today, four days after the incident.
Manoj Naik who was working on a ripper had got buried in the iron ore dump along with the machine on December 02. The rescue operations were initiated immediately.
“This is to inform that the rescue team has recovered the body of our worker, Manoj Naik around 6.15 pm today. Manoj was trapped in a slope failure in our Codli mine on December 02, 2017. He is survived by his wife, two children and father,” company’s spokesman has said in a statement issued here.
“ Vedanta team worked round to clock in the rescue efforts with the support of the local district and state administrative authorities, navy and the National Disaster Management team. After the post mortem tomorrow the body will be handed over to the family of the deceased,” the spokesman said.
“All of us at Vedanta are deeply grieved and will provide all the possible support to the family. We are grateful to the family members of Manoj for the cooperation extended ,” official spokesperson.
