Porvorim (Goa): Goa government is thinking of creating more police stations in the State as per the demand.

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today said that the new police stations would be created in the state in phased manner considering the number of crime.

“There has been demand with the government to have several police stations. We will study the crime detail in each of the area and will decide on having police stations there,” Parrikar said responding to a question on the floor of the House today.

A fortnight long State Legislative Assembly session began yesterday.

Parrikar said that the creation of police stations would be done in a phased manner.

“Step one would be to create police station within existing police station building. Second step would be to create required manpower for that,” said Parrikar, who is also holding Home portfolio in the State cabinet.

The Chief Minister said the process to identify the lands to set up new police stations have also began at various places.
