SHANTARAM NAIK INAUGURATES AN UPGRADED PLATFORM AT THE MARGAO RAILWAY STATION

MARGAO (GOA): Margao railway station should be treated as the main centre of the Konkan Railway network in Goa, and no train entering Goa should avoid the station under any pretext whatsoever, and that, modernisation of the station has to be done on priority basis, said Rajya Sabha MP Shantaram Naik while inaugurating platform 2/3 (560 meters), vacuum dewatered concrete and Kota stone surfacing, which are done at a cost of Rs 94.55 lakh under Members of Parliament Local Area Develop (MPLAD) Scheme.

Naik said that the roof modernisation work at Thivim railway station is expected to be finished soon, and at a cost of Rs. 95.41 lakh, which will be inaugurated on Sunday July 16.

Naik also said that under Project Swarn (gold) 15 Rajdhani and 15 Shatabdi trains are proposed to be modernised by Indian Railways, which includes trolley service for catering, on-board entertainment, improvement in coach interior, improving toilets etc.

Chairperson of Margao Municipal Council Babita Angle said that she is happy that a prominent railway station in the city of Margao has got a helping hand from MP Shantaram Naik.
