Panaji (Goa) The Congress party has claimed that several leaders from other parties are in touch with them for deciding candidate for upcoming Rajya sabha poll seat in Goa. The party has hinted at consensus candidate to be fielded against BJP.

“Congress will take into confidence other parties too. It is the election, it is the numbers finally. Lot of people have approached us but we will discuss in the  forum,” Goa Congress chief Luizinho Faleiro said on Sunday.

The Congress party is trying to field a consensus candidate for upcoming Rajya Sabha poll.

He said the party in Goa will hold crucial party level meeting coming week to shortlist the names.

He said that the party is going to have a Congress Legislature Party meeting on Tuesday which will shortlist the names that would be forwarded to Pradesh Election Committee.

“The Pradesh Election Committee will recommend the names to the party high command which will take the final decision,” Faleiro said. The GPCC chief refused to reveal the names that might be shortlisted.
