SPEAKER SAYS ‘NO’ TO RESOLUTIONS ON STATUES

Panaji (Goa) Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly Dr Pramod Sawant today set aside all the five private member resolutions moved by the legislators in support of installation of statues of various tall leaders in the State Assembly complex.  

The private member resolutions for installation of statue of Dr Jack de Sequeira, TB Cunha, Dr Ram Manohar Lohia and Shivaji Maharaj were moved before the Speaker.

“Speaker has taken the decision not to entertain any of such resolutions for installation of statue. Speaker has set aside all five resolutions. They will not be tabled in the House,” assembly sources confirmed   

Total three resolutions in support Father of Opinion Poll- Dr Jack De Sequeira statue were moved by Deputy Speaker Michael Lobo, NCP MLA Churchill Alemao and resolution signed by 16 congress MLAs.

MGP MLA Deepak Pawaskar had moved a resolution for installation of statue of TB Cunha and Dr Ram Manohar Lohia, as a mark of respect for their contribution in the liberation. BJP MLA Rajesh Patnekar, on the other hand, moved private member resolution in support of Shivaji Maharaj statue.
