The Goa Governor Mridula Sinha has summoned one-day State Legislative Assembly session on May 9, to pass the Goods and Service Tax (GST) Bill.
The Assembly session has been summoned at 11.30 am.
With the July 1 target to roll out the unified indirect tax regime just over two months away, the States have to pass the bill for its implementation.
Earlier this month, the Parliament passed four legislations to pave the way for roll out of the historic GST, including the Central GST Bill, 2017, Integrated GST Bill, 2017, GST (Compensation to States) Bill, 2017, and the Union Territory GST Bill, 2017.
The roll out of GST is termed as historic step for tax reforms which Prime Minister Narendra Modi said was “crucial” for ending tax terrorism besides reducing corruption and blackmoney while making consumer the “king”.
Further, Government may also utilize the opportunity to ratify a few ordinances that were issued after the State Budget session last month and with the approval of the state cabinet and Governor.
