Panaji (Goa)
The burial of deceased from the non-city limits will not be allowed at the Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP)-owned St Inez kabrastan. The Jama Masjid in Panaji has been urged to stop accepting the burial of deceased who do not fall under CCP jurisdiction.
In a written communiqué to the president of Jama Masjid in Panaji, Mustafa Sheikh Kadar, the CCP has informed that the Muslim cemetery at St Inez will only be allowed to bury the deceased who is a resident of Panaji, Taleigao, or Santa Cruz.
“Due to limited space, bodies of Muslim communities from outside Panaji city except above-mentioned places cannot be allowed to be buried in this cemetery/kabrastan. You are therefore requested to please note that persons who expire elsewhere, that is, out of CCP jurisdiction are not allowed to be buried at the Muslim cemetery, St Inez,” it said.
