The Goa Port and Dock Employees Union (GPDEU)has pleaded to the Goa State Pollution Control Board to initiate measures to curb pollution in Vasco instead of completely shutting down coal handling. The Union has raised concerns over the livelihood of workers involved in coal handling.

“ The suspension order has brought port activities to a stand-still. There is an unpleasant situation between the workers and dependents of the Port,” said general secretary of the union Laxmikant Gaude.

The GSPCB had stopped coal handling of JSW Ltd and Adani Terminal due to growing pollution issues in Vasco.
