THREE YOUTHS SENTENCED FOR SODOMY, KIDNAPPING

Panaji (Goa): The Children’s Court today sentenced three youth Pritesh Chari, Laximikant Gahir and Yeshwant Sahu to life imprisonment for sodomy and kidnapping charges. The court had recently convicted them on charges under sections 363 (kidnapping), 324 (causing hurt by dangerous weapons), 342 (wrongful confinement), and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and section 8(2) of the Goa Children’s Act.
According to the chargesheet, the accused had kidnapped a 13-year-old migrant boy, beat him with wooden sticks and sexually assaulted him at an under construction site near Margao railway station in 2013.
When the matter came up for quantum of sentence today, the court sentenced the accused to maximum 10 years of imprisonment for offenses under Indian Penal Code and to life imprisonment for the offense under Goa Children’s Act. They are also slapped with a fine of Rs 35,000.
