Pune: Pune police on Friday arrested Kothrud-Pune based 38-year-old man after he was found allegedly possessing skin of a tiger costing Rs six lakh.
“Sandeep Baban Shelke was arrested when Police Sub Inspector A C Jogdand based on the tip off conducted a raid at the residence of the accused,” Senior Police Inspector Raghunath Phuge told TNV.
The police were informed that one man was in search of a buyer for tiger skin and would arrivve at Kothrud. “The proper trap was laid along with Forest department successfully nabbing the accused,” he said.
During the search of his house, the police found tiger skin and n iron armor. Phuge said it is not yet clear from where does the accused procured the skin and the possibility of poaching is also not ruled out. The court has ordered his police custody till June 12.
