Parra (Goa): In what seems to be an initiative to support the needy students in their studies, prominent state-based NGO ‘Straight From Heart’ provided financial help to 25 students from Parra, Mapusa in a function held on Saturday.
Calangute legislator and Deputy Speaker Michael Lobo was present as the chief guest for the function held at his residence which saw students accepting the cheques from the NGO.
In an emotionally charged speech, Lobo thanked the NGO for their social work which will help these students excel in their studies. “Those who help children’s education God helps them” said Lobo speaking at the occasion.
He said “deserving students who cannot take up higher education due to financial constraints should please approach us, we will try and provide necessary assistance to them”.
`Straight from Heart’ is a NGO which has been funding the needy students across Goa and also providing assistance to school in rural areas. “When educated and uneducated person does the same job the educated tends to get a higher salary” said President of the NGO Uttam Kumar.
“Education is a necessity and financial constraints should not stop the deserving students,” he added.
Also present at the function were Pankaj Dabral Secretary, Sanjay Tomar, Hitendra Nagpal project directors of the NGO. Delilah Lobo Sarpanch of Parra thanked the NGO for sponsoring the education of the students of the village or the second consecutive year.
