Panaji (Goa): With the resumption of new academic years, the schools restarted today across the State. At several places, the traffic jam was witnessed due to rush of the parents to drop their child in their own vehicle, on the first day.
Around 1,700 government and government-aided schools resumed the academic year today. Early morning the traffic mess was witnessed at many spots near schools.
At Cujira school complex, Bambolim, several vehicles were stranded on the highway and also in the underpass constructed near Goa Medical College and Hospital. The chaotic situation prevailed for almost an hour in absence of any traffic police to man the vehicular movement.
Similar situation was reported from various schools in the cities of Panaji and Margao.
State Education department has said that this educational year will have 234 working days while minimum instructional days will be 200. More than two lakh students in primary and high schools began their classes.
