Valpoi (Goa): Valpoi municipal council today witnessed making of a history when BJP led by Vishwajit Rane chose Parvin Sheikh as its Chairperson. This is for the first time that BJP has hold over this municipal council since liberation of Goa.

The election that was held this morning saw all the ten councilors supporting Sheikh. BJP, which had only two councilors in this body, got support of eight more, who had joined the party along with Rane.

Valpoi municipal council was always a hard nut to crack for BJP till Rane joined the group. The last municipal election also saw only two BJP councilors getting elected here.

Today’s development also attains importance as this is for the first time that any lady muslim will be heading the council in Goa. To have such a combination with BJP support has proved that the party has changed its image.

Sheikh said that she will work for the development of Valpoi under guidance of Vishwajit Rane and also chief minister of Goa Manohar Parrikar.
