Vishwajit Rane gets stunned in GMCH welcomed by dogs in casualty

Health minister Vishwajit Rane was stunned and shocked when he found  stray dogs having freely moving in the casualty where emergency patients are treated at Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim.

He was the first health minister to visit GMCH in last five years as the condition of this hospital is deteriorating every passing day. After finding various patients complaining about the hospital, Rane dashed to GMCH this evening surprising everyone.

In the first site itself, Rane saw six dogs who were having their field day in casualty along with the doctor, nurses, other staff and patients.

The security personnels on the duty were found so lethargic that they had learnt to live with the dogs in such critical and sensitive area.

Rane was also taken aback to see dogs in neo-natal ward throwing the hygiene to the wind and creating nuisance around.

The minister who has recently asked the health department officials to pull up their sleeves and work for improving the health care system in the state also was shocked to see stained and dirty bed-sheets being used for patients.

Rane instructed the patients to change the bed-sheets.

In what could cause embarrassment to GMCH officials, the minister literally threw up when he visited stinking bathroom calling for emergency meeting of the concerned agency which has been contracted work to keep it clean.

“I have interacted with the doctors, staff, patients and interns. The state government has heard in detail about their issues. We will solve provide solution for all their issued under the able guidance of chief minister Manohar Parrikar,” Rane said.

The minister during his visit also interacted with the patients from dialysis unit.

Besides the issues of hospital, the minister also interacted with the students of MBBS assuring them that their problems related to the hostel and other facilities would be redressed immediately.

The minister has told the staff that he would continue conducting inspection of this facility which has been a premier institution in the state.
