Panaji (Goa) Days after Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar hinted at conducting audit into the Chief Electoral office (CEO) spending during the February state election, the CEO has welcomed any audit or scrutiny by government the government.
Speaking to media persons, CEO IAS Kunal said that the election department is the most transparent and hence we are open for audit or scrutiny by anyone.
“Whatever spending we have done during the election period, was as per the Election commission of India guidelines and following all due procedures like tendering,” he explained.
He said that state assembly election is a big task, where agencies and officials right from State and Centre are involved.
Parrikar during an event had said that CEO has submitted a bill of Rs 16.86 crore towards hiring of the vehicles for 15 days during the election period and that he would recommend a panel of chartered accountant be formed to audit the whopping reimbursement of the expenditure.
As per the information, the total budgetary allocation sanctioned to CEO for State Assembly election was around Rs 40 crores.
