WEST BENGAL NATIVE HELD FOR POSSESSING GANJA

A 43-year-old man from West Bengal was arrested near Calangute beach last night for allegedly possessing 160 gm cannabis worth Rs 16000, police said today.

According to Calangute Police Station incharge Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi, the accused was identified as Mohammed Samir Alam (43), native of Mistri pada Lane, Kolkata, West Bengal.

Dalvi said that a tip-off was received about the accused person coming to sell drugs at Shanti Bar, Maddowado, Calangute during midnight. Accordingly, a team was formed and directed to conduct a raid.

Further, when the accused person came at the place to sell drugs he was immediately rounded up and his personal search was carried out.
During the search narcotic drugs namely Ganja weighing 160 gms worth 16,000 were seized from his possession.

Alam has been booked under the NDPS (Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances) Act, 1985.
