Panaji (GOA): The fate of 5223 candidates from 176 village panchayats will be known on Tuesday– giving a clear picture as who will rule the local governing body for next five years.
The panchayat polls held on Sunday received whopping response with as many as 80.33 percent voters’ turnout. In North Goa, the voting percentage was at higher side- 83.16 percent, compared to the South- 77.68 percent.
While Bicholim taluka reported the highest voting percentage of 90.60 percent, the Salcete taluka saw the least response with 66.84 percent.
The counting for the polls will begin at 8.00am at 13 centres at the taluka level. Being ballot papers, the counting is expected to be concluded by noon.
The counting for 18 VPs in Pernem taluka will be held at two places-St. Joseph High School and Gram Panchayat Hall, Tuvem. Similarly, for Bicholim having 16 VPs, the counting will take place in two phases at Narayan Zantye Multipurpose Sports Complex Hall. For Sattari with 12 VPs the counting will take place at Auditorium Hall, Forest Training School at Valpoi.
For Bardez taluka which consist of 31 VPs, the counting is scheduled in three phases and two different auditoriums of Government Sports Complex- peddem Mapusa. The counting of 18VPs from Tiswadi taluka will be held at Sports Authority of Goa- Campal.
For Ponda taluka with 20 VPs, the counting will take place in three phases at Government Sports Complex-Curti. The counting for Dharbandora talukas five VPs will take place at Government Primary School-Tamsodo and for Sanguem taluka with seven VPs the counting will take be held at Government Sports Complex-Khairikatem.
The biggest taluka Salcette having the maximum number of panchayats-33- the counting will take place in three phases at the South Goa district collectorate building.
For Mormugao taluka with six VPs the counting will be at Government Sports Complex-Bhutia Bhat.
The Qupeme taluka consisting of 11 VPs the counting is scheduled at Sports Complex- Borimol and for Canacona taluka with seven VPs the counting will take place at Mamlatdar office.
