Panaji (Goa): Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar as sought citizens’ cooperation in keeping the State clean claiming that garbage menace is the problem of all Goans.

“The problem of garbage is not of one person alone or of the government. It is the problem of all Goans,” he said at the launch of the ‘Services of Regular Cleaning of Road Stretch from Miramar circle to Dona Paula circle’ under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of CAM Industrial Services LLP at Miramar.

He urged cooperation of citizens in keeping the surroundings clean while also lauding the corporate initiative in cleaning the roads as part of the CSR activities. “Such models can be carried out on other roads as well,” the CM added.

Chairperson of Economic Development Corporation (EDC) Sidharth Kuncalienker stressed on the significance of the Miramar-Dona Paula road calling it a key link road of the city overlooking of the sea. “It is a place frequented by those who go on walks and jogs. There are schools and institutions located here as well. He further appealed to the people to make cleanliness a habit,” he said.

The Miramar-Dona Paula concretized road was thrown open to the public long ago but it is ridden with problems including complete darkness despite lamp posts. It is said the street lamps have not been given power connection yet. Similarly, broken benches, garbage menace and sewage problems besides a number of issues are connected with the stretch.
