Anjuna (Goa): Goa police have arrested 24-year-old woman from Indore for filing a fake rape case against 56-year-old Mumbai based builder in the year 2016.

“The woman was arrested following investigation in the case, which revealed that the complaint against the builder was fake,” Anjuna police inspector Sanjay Dalvi said.

The woman identified as Tulika Katare who is originally from Indore, had accused Kishor Keswani of raping her in a hotel room at Anjuna, under the pretext of giving her a job.

The complaint was filed in March 2016 and thereafter Keswani had filed for anticipatory bail before additional sessions court in Mapusa, Goa. The anticipatory bail was granted to him.

Keswani had filed counter complaint against the accused in October 2016 and eleven others in the same year for filing fake case against him aiming to grab his property and extort money.

Dalvi said the police investigations had revealed that Keswani was in Mumbai when the rape was alleged against him. “We procured CCTV footage which shows his presence in Mumbai. His mobile location and other witnesses also claimed that Keswani was not in Goa on the day when woman accused him of rape,” he added.

“Keswani was at his residence at the time when woman claimed that she was raped by him. The DNA reports had also come negative in this case. Moreover, hotel staff who was present at the duty also did not identify him during the identification parade,” he added.

The woman was produced before Judicial Magistrate First Class in Mapusa and has been remanded to seven days police custody, Dalvi said.
