YUVA SENA FILES AN APPLICATION WITH THE DEPUTY COLLECTOR

Quepem (Goa): Yuva Sena has filed an application with the Deputy collector at Quepem regarding the inhumane practices of nailing and stapling advertisement materials to the trees, this has become a common site in Quepem area.

In the application they express their concern for the environment as this practice is not only harmful to the trees, as it causes the trees to die a slow death by damaging their tissues that carry water and nutrients throughout the tree; but it is also illegal under the Tree Prevention Act and the Prevention of Disfigurement Act, 1981.

Through the application, they have also clarified that they are not against the advertisements that are displayed on the trees with the help of ropes. The Yuva Sena have also asked for an order for removal of all the advertisements that are hammered into the tree trunks and also for strong action against the offenders.
