Panaji (Goa): The Anjuna beach side party house Club NYEX, which was recently in the news for all wrong reasons, has been slapped a notice by North District Collector barring to hold any New Year party for failing to obtain mandatory permissions.
The Club, slated to hold a series of events starting tonight till December 31, has reportedly not obtained permissions from authorities concerned despite orders from National Green Tribunal, Pune.
“The NGT has issued various orders prohibiting holding any events at the said venue without obtaining prior permissions from the authorities in the State… you have not obtained any permissions from the authorities for holding the events (mentioned in the order copy),” North Collector Nila Mohanan said in the one page order copy.
The District Collector has ordered strict ban of the parties failing which, she has warned of penal action under the Criminal Laws against the Club Manager.
The four events – New Year Eve Party featuring SANDRO AVILA on December 31, Sunburn reload, Sunrise festival on December 29-30, all at the NYEX CLUB and Goa Mantra from December 27-29 have been rolled out for the party.
The club was recently in the news when its owner Rohan Shetty was arrested in connection with the narcotics trade after a waiter and patron were found in possession of drugs on the establishment premise.
The Goa police had booked him under Section 25 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
“With the arrest of the two restaurant operators we want to send out a strong message to establishment owners that there will be zero tolerance towards drugs. If police connivance is found, stern action will be initiated,” SP North Chandan Chowdhary had told reporters after the arrests including that of another notorious club owner .
