Panaji(Goa) An all party delegation met Goa Governor Mridula Sinha today urging her to intervene to salvage the state from the crisis it will face after closure of the mining industry.
The delegation which was led by MGP legislator Sudin Dhavalikar also comprised of Vijai Sardesai (Goa Forward Party) and Bjp legislators Vishwajit Rane, Pramod Sawant, Nilesh Cabral, Dipak Pawaskar (MGP) and Prasad Gaonkar (Independent).
Dhavalikar told reporters that the Governor has been requested to seek intervention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to save the mining industry from facing closure.
“We discussed the social issues which might arise if mining is stopped. We have given the detailed briefing to her,” Dhavalikar said.
“We want help from the centre over the issue. At this stage we will not take any stand till prime ministers office responds,” he said.
Speaking about the congress members who abstained from being part of the delegation today, Dhavalikar said the opposition party should keep political differences aside.
“We are worried about the closure of mining.
Our future action would depend on governor’s decision,” he said.
All party delegation had recently met union shopping minister Nitin Gadkari and Union Power minister Piyush Goel in Delhi but couldn’t fetch satisfactory response.
