SEVEN CANDIDATES TO FIGHT FOR TWO ASSEMBLY SEATS

Panaji (GOA) Total seven candidates are in fray to fill the vacant seat of the Panjim and Valpoi assembly constituency, which will be going for by-election on August 23.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is amongst the four candidates in fray from Panaji. Girish Chodankar (Congress), Anand Shirodkar (Goa Suraksha Manch) and Kenneth Silveira (Independent) are the three other candidates.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, Roy Naik (Congress), and Rohidas Gaonkar (Independent) are in battle field from Valpoi.
The Panaji and Valpoi assembly seat had fallen vacant on May 10 and March 16, respectively.
There are three political parties and two independent candidates in the race.
Total 51,032 voters are eligible to cast their vote that include 26,058 female voters and 24,974 male voters during the by-polls.
The counting of votes will take place on August 28.
